BOND WINS YOUNG RACERS EVENT OUTRIGHT! 14/09/2008

Locals riders Alex Bond (Leisure Wheels) and Jacob North (Summit/Slipstreamers) were both race winners at the On 2 Wheels Young XC Racers Festival held in Lotts Wood on Sunday, 14th September. Alex (pictured above centre) was the class of the field being both outright race winner and Under 14s category champion beating riders two years his senior.

Jacob dominated the Under 12s category, the 10-year old beating older rivals to take the honours at Summit Racing’s final event of the season. Neil Furness won a tough Under 16s 4-lapper from Sam Grant (Slipstreamers), who punctured, and Mark Doolin.

Some very close racing was provided by the Under 8s and Under 10s on Summit’s Junior course. Tom Barrowcliffe (Slipstreamers) was the super-quick winner of the youngest category whilst Tim Dineen (Slipstreamers) just pipped Ben Broadhead in a grandstand finish. Archie Ricketts (Summit) was an excellent fourth.

Amersham’s Ben Smith (Slipstreamers) beat Charles Page (Slipstreamers) to the Under 10s title, with Connor Woodford (Slipstreamers) third.

An exciting two-rider 30-minute relay race followed and produced the following winners: Orla Devlin/Tim Dineen (Under 8s); Ben Smith/Charles Page (Under 10s); Peter and Jack Pickford (Under 12s); Stephanie May/Rebecca Pressner (Under 14s); Sam Grant/Rory Townsend (Under 16s).
